Delphi backed Barrett aims to put the bad luck behind him

Ian Barrett (Clayton West, Huddersfield) and Simon Ashton (Sheffield) in the Delphi backed Vauxhall Corsa are hoping their bad luck is now behind them, as they head for round four of the Mobil 1 British Rally Championship, the SEAT Jim Clark Memorial Rally.

The nineteen-year-old has retired from both of the last two rounds of the series with engine problems. The service crew worked wonders on the team's last event, the Scottish, enabling Ian and Simon to gather valuable test miles as they completed the National event and so they are looking forward to the first tarmac round of the Championship.

"I couldn't believe the troubles we encountered on the first stage of the Scottish, the team had all worked so hard and we were just gutted" commented the Roger Clark Award contender. "I'm really looking forward to the Jim Clark though now, we entered a road rally after the Scottish as I've never driven competitively at night before. It seemed really strange being yet another new experience but I believe it all helps."

The SEAT Jim Clark Memorial Rally is very special being the only closed road event on the mainland. The rally runs from Friday teatime until the early hours of Saturday before a rest-halt, then right through Saturday night (30th of June/1-2nd July) attracting the cream of British rallying.
