Team Taylor miss out on the last

David Pattrick (Sleaford) and Simon Ashton (Sheffield) scored their best result of the year on Saturday, narrowly missing out on a class win on the Sutton Auto Factors Dukeries Rally.

The Team Taylor Peugeot 106 Rallye lead the 1400cc Standard car class from the start building up a lead of 18 seconds after the third stage in Clipstone Forest. By the sixth stage the lead was down to ten before David hustled his 106 through Thieves Wood eight seconds quicker than rival Les Allfrey. By the final stage the two crews were level where David and Simon were delayed by another car that was part blocking the stage, handing a narrow victory to Allfrey in another Peugeot 106.

Team Taylor finished 64th out of the 150 starters following 45 dusty stage miles in Sherwood Forest. Brian Bell won the Fortieth Anniversary Dukeries Rally in an ex-Juha Kankkunen Escort WRC.
