Barrett Heads to the Manx
Delphi backed Ian Barrett (Clayton West, Huddersfield) "Heads" to the final round of the Mobil 1 British Rally Championship with an extra team member providing backup support. Steve Head has already claimed the Championship class that Ian has been campaigning for all season, and will help the youngster settle into his new mount on the Isle on Man.
The Proton Satria Sri has been the class of the field in 2000 and with Head not competing himself, the Bridge Motorsport car was available to hire. "The Corsa was not really competitive at this level and I'm building a Proton for next season. It seemed logical hiring this Proton for the Manx so I can start gaining experience for next year" the twenty year old Roger Clark Award contender commented. "I'm under no illusions for the Manx, this is still my first year in the Championship and it will be my first visit to the notoriously tricky Isle of Man roads. We've had a bit of a disastrous season so I just want to get some mileage under my belt and see how close to the pace we can get in a proven car."
Barrett and co-driver Simon Ashton (Sheffield) will commence their toughest event together on Thursday (7th September), the event finishing over 200 miles later on Saturday afternoon.
