Team Taylor second in the Lakes

Team Taylor's David Pattrick (Sleaford) and Simon Ashton (Sheffield) retained their Championship opening form at the weekend with another second in class placing on the two day Malcolm Wilson Rally.

The event started at 9pm on Friday night and sent crews into an icy Lowther Park Forest, test stage to Ford World Championship Team. David and Simon put in a stirring performance and despite damaging the sumpguard by smashing into a rock, emerged from the 3 mile test with a four second class lead and a much improved seeding for Saturdays forty stage miles.

The Cockermouth based Rally restarted in glorious sunshine but the stages remained icy on Saturday morning. The Peugeot 106 mounted Team Taylor suffered on the forth stage of the day by half spinning and attacking a banking in a shaded tree covered stretch of Grizedale Forest, but fought back over the final three stages to claim a fine 58th overall from 137 starters.

The event was won for the third year running by Steve Petch in an Escort WRC.
