Team Taylor claim first victory!

David Pattrick (Sleaford) and Simon Ashton (Sheffield) finally scored their first Peugeot Sport Gold Star Championship class victory on Saturdays Autospares Dukeries Rally.

Team Taylor were in contention right from the start with equal fastest class time on the very first stage before a titanic battle commenced with Les Allfrey's similar Peugeot 106 Rallye. After five stages there was just one second separating the two teams before Allfrey crashed out leaving David with a 30-second class lead.

With the main competition out Team Taylor relaxed a little too much loosing concentration on one of the longest stages of the event Portland, near to Sherwood Forests famous Major Oak. Eleven seconds were lost to the factory Volkswagon Polo but David and Simon banged in fastest times on the final two stages to claim a 27 second victory - their first together!

"It's just such a relief. We've finished second more times than we care to remember and we've been knocking on the door all season. I think this one means even more because its' our local event" commented Simon.

David and Simon finished 50th overall out of 136 starters on the Mansfield based event which was won outright by Michael Watson in a Ford Escort Cosworth.
