Malcolm Wilson Rally
Team Taylor's pairing of David Pattrick (Sleaford) and Simon Ashton (Sheffield) endured challenging conditions on Saturday's Malcolm Wilson Rally.
Based in Cockermouth with the action taking place in the Grizedale and Whinlatter Forest complexes, the second stage of the event proved to be the team's undoing. The stage surface changed from gravel to snow and ice where the pairing came close to going off the road twice in the space of a couple of hundred yards. Despite catching another two cars, the Peugeot 106 crew dropped a minute to their nearest rivals, which left them languishing in sixth in class.
They attacked hard on the remaining six stages to reclaim fifth in class but ran out of mileage to make any further impression and finished the event 67th overall.
The pairing are in action later this month on the North Humberside Stages Rally where they hope to improve on their current second in class in the Peugeot Sport Gold Star Championship.
