Delphi backed Barrett hopes for better luck
Delphi backed Ian Barrett (Clayton West, Huddersfield) and Simon Ashton (Sheffield) are hoping for better luck on the third round of the Mobil 1 British Rally Championship at the weekend (10-11th of June) when they tackle the toughest round of the series, the Kuhmo Scottish Rally.
The nineteen year old Roger Clark Award contender retired on only the third stage of the last round, he Pirelli International, after punching a hole in the sump causing the engine to fail.
"My hopes are higher on this round than any other. The pacenotes in Kielder seemed to flow better and we had caught our minute man in just eleven miles when the engine blew" commented the youngster. Extra mileage would have helped Ian on his steep learning curve with pacenotes and the faster pace of the countries premier series but it wasn't to be. However with a brand new engine, and the all-important sump guard to protect his investment, the youngster is looking for a solid finish on the final gravel round of the series.
