David Pattrick Sales Manager at Taylors of Boston, has been rallying since 1992. Initially in a rapid Talbot Samba, he specialised in single venue events, alternating the driving and co-driving with his brother Richard. They enjoyed modest success including several class wins and awards from their local motor club, The Lincs Louth.
In 1997 David acquired the current car, a Peugeot 106 Rallye 1300 to compete in class N1 (the showroom car class). Having finished every event entered, including no lower than 4th in class on every BTRDA event, he decided to enter the 1998 Network Q Rally, only to retire on the final day with gearbox problems.
This year David is being co-driven by Simon Ashton from Sheffield in an assault on the BTRDA Championship, and is the current LLMC multi venue champion.
Simon Ashton has also been competing since 1992 and won his second ever event - the 1993 Three Swans road rally in a Peugeot 205. 1993 saw Simon clinch second overall in the ANCC Road Rally Championship and a move into a Talbot Sunbeam. Many top ten placings followed over the next two years before he decided to swap seats and take to the stages. In 1997 he won the AutoFocus Photography ANCC Multi-venue Challenge and clinched second overall in the Ti Rallyschool Northern Stage Rally Championship with Errol Bairstow. 1998 saw a move to the Woodfield Garage Rally Team and outright success in the Phoenix Awards ANEMMC Stage Rally Championship. The team also scored its' first ever stage rally victory on the October Stages with Chris Wood in a Vauxhall Astra.
